After the second lolpic thread got locked. wouldnt it be easier to just ban ppl that obviously cant behave and follow the forum rules than lock thread after thread that 99% of the ppl on the forums enjoy? From, what I've seen its mostly the same ppl that get threads locked anyway, if they cant post they cant get threads locked and there will be no complaints sent to you in PM's.
The first one wasn't even supposed to be locked permanent just long enough to clear out the quote trains. But people made new one too quick. Regardless while some of that stuff was over the top people will always complain.
I was only intending to close the thread long enough to clean stuff out. It'll be open again shortly.
What I said still goes, though. I'm going to be less lenient with subject matter in these threads from now on. Tired of handing out warning after warning. First-time offenses will still get a warning, but honestly, most of you guys should know better by now.
How about we don't miss the point mkay? If you want to keep your precious lol forums, keep it clean. If Jaerik has the option of trolling through the thousands of posts made daily or simply nuking a whole thread, I think we all know which option he'd choose.
Remember that this site is not about the forum, and has been said before, if the forum is threatening the integrity of the overall site, it's bye bye forum.
At this stage, with the amount of rubbish threads around I couldn't care less if he nukes it, but if people want it kept alive, then use your heads before you post. If you want /b/, go to /b/.
You know, depending on how they set up what I'd guess is a MySQL db, it may be pretty easy for them to make a "Purge User's Post" function, per topic or whole site.
I do think though that bannings should be given more often than used to be. Fortunately, you can't just sign up and troll onward on this site.

While I get stuck with the "crazy (communist/fascist/nazi/your-choice-here)" designation a lot, just by benefit of being a red-name, people are usually shocked to discover that in the entire 3+ year history of FFXIAH.com, I have handed out only a grand total of ~6 bannings. And only two of those were for conduct on the forums.
Remember that entire thread that was calling this the new third reich or something taht was some lulz
I remember that! 'cuz one dude getting his anime porn post deleted was just like the Holocaust.
Seriously though, while I like to think we here at FFXIAH.com are generally benevolent and lovable dictators, you shouldn't kid yourselves into thinking that we're anything but.
lol Feli and kuro are 2 diffrent ppl, i have had the misfourotion of hearin them on Vent >.> @_@ ask one Question and you get a 5 hour ear rant on something about Spiritual power, all i wanted to know was if they could get me a fire cluster thing

We should start a thread of awesome Jaerik quotes. This, and the coco-devil response.

I really don't think we need to start a thread of Jaerik quotes, but if you want a good laugh (no offense Jaerik), just click his name and start reading his posts. I'll start with this one though since it's entirely relevant to the topic:

As I've explained before, I personally have no issues with boobs and other questionable sexualized content. I'm quite a fan, really! I think in general, people are way too uptight about that stuff and need to chill. I also think it's unreasonable and a bit naive to expect teenagers and other minors to have never seen worse already.
But as the admins of this site, we provide a service. We didn't make a site to make a social statement, and trying to judge the sensibilities of our 50,000+ registered users from a small handful of regular forum participants is invalid.
A significantly large enough percentage of our users have expressed they're uncomfortable with such content, and would not continue to use our service if such content remains, so from a sheer cost/benefit and user retention analysis standpoint, we will get rid of said content.
That, and well...I'm preeeeetty sure those that really want such content to remain can probably find it somewhere else on the internet if they really tried.

Just a hunch.
I agree that bannings would be more fair to everyone, but it might not be very realistic depending on how the site works. Should ban the whiners as well. ...lol. was gonna post a link to the *** the police video, but i'm sure someone would *** about it.

Well Scragg just recently gave me TopicBan. Which is to ban a user from posting on a thread. So far I've only used it once and I would give you at least a warning before I do.
Scragg hasn't spoken to me of the topicban feature yet but in my opinion, I try to give you enough freedom to speak and have fun. I don't want to ban people just because they whine or just cause someone doesn't like them.
Also Scragg didn't announce me having the topicban either, so many do not know I have it.
Anyways, I don't mind the fun and we all have our jokes etc. on subjects, all I ask is people use common courtesy, don't post something extremely offensive, and images that are inappropriate.
Alyria does a great job here on the forums. So far, we haven't given our green-names the ability to globally ban people, but if folks don't exercise a little more restraint we may change our minds on that...
