New NIN Gear?

I think one of the things I'm most interested in with the expansion if there is what some of the new gear pieces are for NIN.

I figure it might be more like stuff you get from ToAU where it's more of a NIN/SAM/MNK piece rather than something completely NIN specific, but I'd be interested to see any stats on it after anyone has found anything.

Not very good on the math side and where these fit in but what caught my attention as possibly interesting pieces.

Blade:Hi body maybe. Think af3 might be better with crit rate on it, but this might be augmentable too.

I think these hands just might beat out both Thaumas and Seiryu's Kote... :o

I am looking at that MDB head, since we lack easy to obtain magic defense options.

I'll update the guide soon but until then pretty much all the interesting pieces have been stated.

Xux Trousers are not as good as Usukane +1/Koga Hakama+2 for TPing.
Thaumas are better than it for Hi. It's about on par with Byakko's Aug'd, but it depends on where your DEX is at. In light of this I wouldn't bother with Thurandaut Legs.

Thurandaut Head might actually be a useful TP Head depending on how much DW it has. Would allow for Thurandaut Head + Twilight Belt instead of Iga Zukin +2 + Patentia Sash. Also, great for Jin/Shun.

Thurandaut Body vs Athos's Body for Hi is dependent on your DEX. For most things I'd use Athos unless you are sure you're way overshooting DEX or the enemy has like 120+ AGI.

Thurandaut Hands are the most interesting IMO, 14 DEX is a lot. It's definitely my choice of gloves for Hi outside and, if the future brings us more DEX gear, it'll be interesting as a TP piece too (assuming you don't have Tenryu +1). At the moment I would also recommend TPing with it in Adoulin since there seems to be a lot of evasive stuff running around there.

Thurandaut Feet are a good replacement for Jingang Greaves. Don't think there's much to be said aside from that I hope they'll continue to add haste/PDT gear for light jobs.


Suijin Kabuto is really easy to get, you can beat the slug with like 2 or 3 people. Though I think I'd take Chocaliztli Mask over it just because it can let you melee better while you're wearing your MDB set at the cost of just 2 MDB and it saves space because you won't have to carry around Thaumas Hat anymore.

I REALLY doubt that head has anywhere near enough DW to beat the Zukin+2. Come on now. The Zukin has big haste and big DW. The head alone has sick str/dex. There is no way it has the (what I'm guessing it needs) 10% DW to compare as well as the already staggering str/dex that beats the super expensive Khepri bonnet.

What about Thur hands for Shun/metsu?

better than current options such as mustela, iga +2, athos?

Athos is still better if you're on the right day, but otherwise Thur hands are better, yeah. Myrmex is still an option if you need the STR/Attack (Almost always).
