I might get some fire from this or maybe not, but here it goes...

Some of us leveled BLU because it looked like a fun job and enjoyed going spell hunting or seeing the hp bar going dramatically down on mobs doing self skillchains while partying pre-abyssea and now maybe even more after abyssea. I never saw BLU as a soloing job for NMs, probably due to ignorance, laziness and not knowing the full potential of the job (after seeing all the Draylo's videos). I am tired of using my BLU only to proc stuff in abyss and VW; I am looking to become a better player.

I have tried to solo some of the NMs that a lot of BLU here said can be soloed and in most cases I find myself struggling, not necessarily because of difficulty but due to slow response time, strategy and simply not knowing how to manage the mp efficiently/effectively. If I have to put a grade on myself I would say I am maybe an average player

Here is my question/request: Is any of the good BLUs here willing to come up with a "training list" of NMs and/or situations to solo? Ideally it would be a progressive difficulty list in which we would face unique situations forcing to figure out strategies and improve skills needed for tougher challenges. All this for a level 99 BLU.

Not sure if I am asking too much here and I hope this doesn't look like a "lazy/put stuff for me on a silver platter" thing. Maybe some of you might find this list fun to do... just figured that experienced players would be able to guide us noobs better than just start popping NMs and see what happens.

I'd imagine it's not much of a challenge but when I did for my da khadga at 90 cap was solo most of Khalamari. Helped me pay attention to ni shadows since occultation doesn't block mantle piercer. I'd start there you'd learn to keep your hp up and use ni shadows(although I'm very sure a few CDC combos would rip it apart now).

Something about solo and nms is knowing when not to spam stun too much, many blus do it too often, too fast when they don't need it. Knowing when to alternate between stun and actinic burst is very useful.

Knowing the duration of your buffs is also helpful simple I know but to get the most out of certain buffs they are best cast at certain times. A lot of blus(and most people on jobs) pop all their abilities too soon and loose on those few seconds of running up to engage, etc. This also applies to debuffs also.

On the other hand you can't be impatient and not run in without the right buffs, it's a quick(er) death and I've done it plenty of times.

Good evasion, pdt, mdt sets do a lot of the work and knowing when to switch between though, and it's a game of patience. I don't solo much though too much ADD in me sorry I can't give you too through of a list.

Khalamari, Arimsapi, Kharon

Khalamari: Already explained

Arimsapi: get used to stunning magic moves and using your MDT sets. Whirl of Rage, Temp Shift should be great for his pets

Kharon: Will help you get used to fighting on different modes ie don't melee Kharon with Dread Spikes and to use spell corresponding to his weakness (blunt spells all the way don't bother with casting quad on him that goes for CA/Efflux also).

Wyrm: It's a pretty simple fight the trick is to not run out of mp. It incorporates elements of the previous 3 nms when you shave off 30% health he will fly then you will be using MDT and saline coat until he lands at 33% health. If you can time it right you can reduce the flying time by knowing how much hp you'll shave off with your CDC > Amorphic spikes(not necessary though).

Be ready in evasion gear for a lot of Terror episodes (last up to a minute). Once you get him on the ground you should have him.

Having a lot of experience soloing lots of fodder mobs in abbsyea helps a lot too. Go /war and skip MM and you'll learn to manage your mp better with just battery charge and magic fruit for healing and mp recovery. Dynamis farming helps as well and lastly people that solo well know the ins and outs of their abilities which is why I added the extra info; knowing how to maximize them takes practice and some face down in the dirt but it'll get better and then the gear that makes much smoother.

Ya at least I said might...... windower and spellcast allow me to do more gear swaps and react faster its just a fact you can not do same things on xbox.

The best way I found to get used to soloing on BLU is to solo (or mostly solo) your bri helms and sobek skins. It'll take a week or so but it's well worth it and gets you used to soloing.
Gets you used to stunning, learning to anticipate enemy TP moves estimating TP feed, when to stop tp feed, etc.
Abbyssea is very forgiving so it's a great place to practice.

If you already have almace then my advice would be just to practice, try soling a few +2's if you need any and don't worry about losing a few times.

The lions share of effective blue mage soloing is preperation.
Ie. setting the right spells at the right times.

@Josiahfk Ugh I hate that thing lol... Forgot to mention that as an average player I also have average gear so I lack pdt, mdt or full eva sets. I am trying to get there tho

@Gimp Very comprehensive response man thanks. I wasn't expecting such detail but it is much appreciated :)

@Thorbean I do have an Almace 85, but I need a bunch of +2 still. I usually check wiki's testimonials, so I'll check which ones have BLU solos and maybe try those... "practice makes the master" some say.
