I may have overlooked a posting, and if so direction to posting would be helpful, but if not....
I was wondering how well WAR with a 90 Ukon does in NNI as well as Legion and some of the other content outside of Abyssea. I understand that WAR w/ Rag > anything, to paraphrase of course, but until I get Rag, Ukon would have to do.
My LS mates are concerned that a WAR w/GA, even the empy, would kill too slow, any thoughts?

When I did NNI before summer we always had a WAR with us, either an Ukon90 WAR or a Bravura95 WAR.
Both worked very well, and Fell Cleave was handy in a few situations.
Also Tomahawk can be nice!

Sounds more like they are concerned with taking your WAR tbh. I've never had any problem on war even when my ukon was 85 and wouldn't have a problem taking most with me

Obviously 99 rag and ukon are better. But outside of those 2 no relic or empy is significantly better.

Sorry, I mixed my convos, they're more concerned with Legion and lack of atunning. So I would be the retard here.

Not trolling, just have limited time on getting some empy weapons done for several LS members and trying to decide on a direction to take so I don't over burden my friends.
Rag is only epic for war while you have MS up rest of the time ukon beats it unless the war doesnt know what they are doing. Upheaval though is also just as good during MS and the next best option if you dont have rag/reso.
Another benefit to WAR with Ukon is being able to self light with your best WS. It's helpful when you find yourself alone with an NM, and for the time being with embrava its pretty easy to pull off.
I don't think war x4 is a great setup, but at least one ukon war really speeds up kill all floors, and as stated, tomahawk is great for bosses.

If you're doing Legion, and Ukon is your best weapon make sure to have Upheaval 5/5 with a good gear set.

^This. The ONLY time you should be using a Ragnarok on WAR is either during Legion in Mul Hall or during zergs while Mighty Strikes is up. Otherwise, Ukon will always come out on top.
Whoever told you Great Axe for WAR is any less than stellar otherwise, is an idiot. Ukon WAR and Apoc/Rag DRK are pretty much the best DD you can have for NNI, and just about anything else for that matter. The setup my group uses for NNI is 2 Ukon WAR and 2 Apoc/Rag DRK (both DRK have both). It's great having a mixture of WAR and DRK for NNI for a number of different reasons.
Thanks to all for the info, looks like I'll be finishing up my last NM camp this week, with any luck I should have ukon90 in about a month, LS is doing a masamune, almace, and 3 calas as well, so waiting my turn.
Now to research Upheaval and Ukko builds, luckily there's some great ideas already posted.

We've won with 90 Ukon, 95 Rag war, 99 Fulgurante DRK, Vere MNK and Almace Blu. You should be just fine.
Sam has really amazing zerg power in nyzul, war being great for cleaving and overall dot, drk for survival in a heavy hitter, mnk/blu are for versatility. A good mix lets you adapt well to different objectives. Saying any single job or weapon sucks is just ignorance.

Considering that both ukko and fc are str based mods, wouldn't most, if not all, gear work for both, possibly replacing some acc biased gear with str considering fc is 1hit?
I would think crit rate/damage gear wouldn't be as important on FC too
I used something like this when I was getting mine. I'm not sure how optimal it is or anything-- had trouble finding info on FC sets, so I just stacked strength with what I had laying around.
