Me personally, I like the thought but so many people have dumped so much effort into this game. Me personally?
If it comes out for Xbox360 I may consider it.
But I am forever a FFXI player. Interested in opinions ^^

FFXIV?
-To be honest, I'm excited about it. I didn't start FFXI until about a year ago and I feel like I missed out on a lot. Sure, I missed out on a lot of the things like massive inflation, massive RMT fishbotting, MPKing, ect. but there is a certain air about those players that have been there since the beginning. Its tough to get help for quests and missions when everyone has already done them all and are unwilling to repeat them over and over again for friends. I'd love to start at the beginning and watch everything develop.

I still havent seen it yet, but Im pretty sure its the next FFXI
FFXIV isn't by the same people that made FFXI.

They might make an Xbox Port if demand is high enough. The easier solution is to just use a PC though, it'll always be superior to Xbox anyway.

I should. But I could just say it myself since I'm a PC user and XBL user of FF XI. But first I need to blow the dust off of my 360's hard drive since I haven't loaded FF XI in awhile. =d

To put it in layman's terms:
If you get disconnected playing on Xbox, you would get disconnected if you were playing on PC.

No... Because to play FF XI on Xbox, you need the XBL service to be up. XBL may have maintenance or update services. So XBL users need to rely on the reliability of their ISP, XBL service and SE's service. While PC users only concern is their ISP and SE.
Well I think FFXIV will be the shittt! Once it launchs FFXI will be dead, SE is ganna start combining servers. And plus would you really keep playing FFXI when u know theres a better, FF online out there, with kick *** graphics and new generation stuff? As well as new story line etc, etc
It is true SE would be stupid not to release FF14 on xbox, but it is also stupid to play it on xbox. >.>
Who knows, by 2010, or whenever 14 is postponed to, the globe might universally realise how much the Xbox sucks and boycott it...

Consoles are 500$~ on release but its a 1 time payment for like 5~years and you dont need to upgrade it what so ever
PC has the most up 2 date GFX, mouse and keyboard (for fps and RTS games = win)
but both have their bad sides so in the end to take the good with the good and the bad with the bad

I play with a few ppl all the time on Xbox and we are always having to wait for them to log back in while us on pc are NOT disconnected!

SE is saying we might be able to transfer our characters to the new game, who knows but i dont know if i can invest time in another mmo, but i probably give it a shot anyway :)
Whole characters no, but names, friends list and even linkshells could happen. ^^
We won't be able to transfer any character date asides from names and friend lists. They're looking into a way of transferring linkshells as a group to the same servers on fourteen, but we won't be able to transfer our characters:

FFXI has been nothing but a BETA test for FFXIV for the last 5 years. They've been working on FFXIV for over 5 years they've said. Which means things like Pankration, Campaign, Besieged, Limbus, the difference between Dynamis-cities/northlands, and Dynamis-Dreamlands, all of it. Has been testing, to see how live players would react over time. Including merits. Which makes me think the exp/level up system, will be merits from Lv1.
