I suck at taking tests. I honestly brain fart at the start of any test(Except history), then with like 15minutes left i'm like
AH HA! thats how you do it all. then i scribble stuff down really fast and sloppy and end up passing :S them video games....must be killing brain cells mortontony1 said: » Odin.Liela said: » That's mostly because I'm a bad test-taker in general. I turned up as average intelligence but bad tester. The only class I ever got a C in was in Anatomy/Physiology, and I'd get great scores in class and then bomb every single test. Sucks. Asura.Bartimaeus said: » And I never bothered to remember the states capitals. I retained them long enough to get through school, and if really pressed, I could probably recall most of them. I didn't (and still don't) think knowing state capitals is important. Location of the state, sure. But capitals? mortontony1 said: » This is just... astonishing... How does US history and geography determine IQ? i think math/physics, chemistry, biology, art/music and literature would like a word with u... The ability to regurgitate a certain amount of information doesn't make someone more or less stupid. It just makes them good at memorizing. The ability to analyze and quantify situations, and develop conclusions in a timely manner, NOW that determines intelligence. The ability to analyze and quantify situations, and develop conclusions in a timely manner, NOW that determines intelligence. so is this an argument about the differences between being smart and intelligent? it's all relative imo..i know two people who are going to harvard, and i don't think theyre anything special having spent time with them :x
It's not really "I suck at taking tests", as much as it is people just being anxious about time constraints and then psyching themselves out.
I can't remember where it was said, but American education is taught to take test well, while retaining very little. Doubtful, there will always be the smart kids. :)

a perfect example :x "haikus" has 3 mora whereas its 2 syllables, making the first sentence have 6 mora and therefore invalid as a haiku :x
I have no idea what a mora is, and I believe I was taught syllables in school. I'm just going to go back to sleep.
(Edit: As in taught that haikus are based off syllables...) They're asking a bunch of random *** questions, that you either know or don't. Nothing that you can use actual intelligence to deduce, such as a math or chemistry problem.
I sure as hell don't know the capital of Washington, lol. I've never been to Washington, probably never going to go. Useless information, etc. Leviathan.Draylo said: » How does that make someone dumb? I mean, it's not like you will use that knowledge in your everyday life. Sure hope perfect memory is the next thing for human to develop . . so this idea that memorizing facts makes you smart or important. Sylph.Tigerwoods said: » meh, unimpressed.
