Bad Breath was the hardest one for me, just wouldn't learn it. Spinal Cleave took a while too, but not too much.
All the other ones were kinda easy. If you're farming spells try to look for the family in Abyssea. When I did it, wiki havent listed them as possible to learn. e.g. Cold Wave from bombs in Uleguerand, Memento Mori from Courses in Tahrongi, Magic Hammer from Poroggos in La Theine etc. Went 1/1 on them mostly in Abyssea.

I made a big post on the prior page with about 20 spells that I had learned in Abyssea, screenshots included. There are a LOT of spells you can learn in all Abyssea zones.
I'm down to 12 spells. Unfortunately, the few I need you can't really get in Abyssea.
Exuviation is only used by Itzpapalotl, and no one enfeebles it so it won't use it. Ram Charge you can get from Rams in La-Thiene, but thier Great Bleat sucks. Bog Bodies DO NOT use Spinal Cleave, and there are no Lamia/Merrow in Abyssea for Tail Slap/Hysteric Barrage :/

I know venturing outside abyssea can be scary for some, but this spell was a joke to get, even at 75.
1) Set Regurgitation and Yawn/Dream Flower/Sleep-spell-of-choice
2) Pull Wamoura
3) Spam Regurgitation
4) Cast sleep if bind from regurgitation breaks early
5) Learn spell
I was on BLU for grellow for Itz while farming it for Emp so I just spammed Regurg one time out of laziness and learned it by accident ><
Worse spell was Winds of Promyvion that I can recently remember, I don't talk about pollen.
I spam regurgitation on Itz too because it does damn good damage. The bind effect almost never makes him use exuviation though because with a tank meleeing it wears off pretty much instantly.
Got Regurgitation entirely by accident getting my Itz boss clear...
However... Asuran Claws!!!!!!! ARRRRGHHHGHGHGHGGH /magerage
Can't get Lassy's love child to stand up and when it dose it heals itself and goes back down! I gave up... Quad Cont ftw >.>;

Don't worry, it's a shitty spell anyway. If I remember rightly.. Can be used to set Counter though.
Asuran Claws was one of the most let down-ridden spells that I ever remember us getting. A 6-hit spell sounded so good... then... /sigh
Totally agree. I remember going out there as a Lv70 blu with a few friends. Took us maybe 90 minutes to finally learn the spell. Set it expecting epicness. And it continually hit like 70%ish the dmg of Frenetic rip and cost more MP -.- Didn't improve much with higher levels / gear either. Diss/fren always out-powered it.

Exuvation(sp), Cannonball, Hysteric Barrage... Lvl89 & still can't get the damn spells.
They are important spells man. Well, Cannonball still is anyway. I'd highly recommend working on them.
Correct me if I'm wrong... I've only been back to the game a week or so...
But Cannonball has a range of around 21 yalms, which is over twice the distance of bethic and it isn't AoE... So is great for pulling/kiting/dealing damage at a distance without being within AoE range of the mob.
Edit: Not to mention with /thf it can still put out good numbers while at a healthy distance. I know Benthic can be used /thf too, but you still have to be in close range.
for pulling and claiming yeah, but in the few situations where I'd be kiting and dealing damage I'd probably use Regurgitation unless it was really resistant. Don't get me wrong I'm not saying it's useless, it's just that its uses have diminished considerably.
I personally would still class it as a useful spell, regurg is good for magic damage and bind but it's still useful to have a long range physical damage spell for resistant mobs and such (Although I guess with atmas, resistant mobs are fewer and far between now). Obviously it's situational, as majority of blu spells, but I would never class it as one of the spells you can just 'skip'.

I've lost 20k exp trying to get the damn things. Still at it & about to be Lvl88.
Yeah, they're not the friendlist spells to hunt. I had a NIN friend help me out but that was back at Lv75 cap. Not sure how difficult they're to solo at 90, haven't tried. Always hated those moths though.
Every Blue Mage has a small handful of spells that are/were a bit*h to learn. Post which you had the biggest headache obtaining or are still trying to get.
Mine so far are:
Maelstrom (just cant learn it! ugh!) Auroral Drape (took 40 mobs to learn) Heat Breath (they have way too many TP moves) Metallic Body (took a week to get) Wild Carrot(they didnt want to use it) Feather Barrier (see above)
