Purple bar is for a handful of folks that run sites partnered with ours, like the ffxiv blog. Which sort of makes them pseudo staff members.
I never noticed that all three of our moderators were women, actually. X-chromosome conspiracy? Or just that female users tend to come across with more congenial, moderator-like personalities than our male users?
We actually asked a number of male users to be mods in the past, including folks that still post here. They turned us down.
Derf is awesome, but it's difficult to officially recognize Derf for anything when he posts anonymously. =)
