Smaller shields can be useful for PLD outside of the kiting situations mentioned. When subbing nin shadows are the primary defence but when they are down and you are trying to recast Uts: ichi, the higher rate of blocking may be favourable.
Rather decent Solo piece for say a BST who's /WHM or /RDM (for whatever reason that may be)
Edit: Should clarify, Regen/refresh Sets in general have their situations, And its definitely not all of them.
Maybe RDM won't find the best use, But I don't really care about RDM, Real reason i wanted this was BST and (Rarely) PLD.
BST I would expect to see the most use out of this, /WHM or /RDM Soloing with pet doing most of the work, Its nice for when you take a bit of damage, and still want your axe to help DD.
Iam getting decent use out of this atm skilling up shield skill while solo mandy cleaving in abyssea altepa on pld/dnc. Combined with mounted champ makes 21hp/tick regen and the block rate is pretty high combined with reprisal for when phalanx drops.
I personally cannot find any use for this in an idle gearset for RDM. The sheer amount of damage saved from idling in Terra's staff, or even a Magian -PDT sword+Genbu's would vastly outweigh the regen on this in the short or long term.
Magical mob? There are superior staff/weapon combinations for that too.
If you argue that you will not be getting hit at all, period. Why do you need regen anyway?
