Conserve mp is not precast despite what wiki says.
I went out and tested it. 200+ spells later with +10 conserve mp during precast and switching out midcast I got 0 procs instead of the about 20 I should've gotten.
50 casts with equiping the conerve mp midcast got 6 procs (pretty close to the 10% it should be)
Worth using on high MP cost buffs such as haste, refresh, refresh II, protect spells, shell spells, etc. Also wouldn't be a bad idea to use it for regens, just to be a little more conservative. Possibly even useful for raise.
These spells aren't effected by the stats you'd otherwise have in your waist slot, so there's absolutely no reason not to use it. Of course, in some situations certain people may still prefer a haste belt for these spells to lower the recast, but the belt certainly does hold merit.
@Novahh That's likely your BLM Conserve MP trait that's kicking in, which is +25 Conserve MP.
I, like Dasva, tested it on a job that doesn't naturally receive Conserve MP, and Wikipedia is flat-out wrong in this case. Conserve MP gear must be equipped at spell completion in order to get the benefits. Not bad gear for casting Haste, Refresh, Cure I-IV though.
@Garota probably a good chance they're bazaar selling them, empty out the market forcing higher price from peer to peer sales. Thats one of many speculations.
I see this as being pretty good for a scholar. Stacked with maybe a claris stone, and using Celerity for an extra 50% reduction in MP (Though not sure if it would be before or after the conserve mp attribute).
Ximph- you obviously don't know what your talking about. Hmp is great regardless, and if your not resting when you can sneak it in then you're just being stupid. Best Hmp piece for those all jobs. (excluding relic rdm belt as only rdm can wear it). Conserve mp is cool, but not really beneficial over many other stats you would need when casting. And definitely not worth the 700k price tag.
Ragnarok.Garota.. people are buying multiples probably for doing augmentations through fields of valour...<getting the right augmentation that you want can take a few goes > so people npc them if they dont like the augmentations and redo it.

Could you post a link to the evidence about conserve mp gear and being able to remove it mid-cast please?
Fast Cast gear will work when equiped pre-cast for reducing cast time but doesn't effect recast time if not equipped at cast time. Similar for -enm and haste.
@Ellid, I have no proof but when i macro in my+10 or so conserve mp gear pre-cast I am able to cast about 5-6 AM2's in about 1200mp with change to spare most times.
