THF Ancient Torque Vs Spike Necklace

I bought an Ancient Torque today with (DEX+4 ACC+9) for WS and SAWS. I'm currently using Spike Necklace with STR+3 DEX+3 MND-6. My question is would the 1 DEX out weigh the 3 STR or nah?

For dancing edge, since it's a multi-hit, I would use ancient torque for the acc. But I don't actually know, I use a breeze gorget, so I haven't tried different necklaces much.

Ya let me rephrase the question. Would the 1 DEX out weigh the 3 STR for SA only I'm using Ancient torque for SAWS and TAWS ofc.

why would u buy an ancient torque... excuse me, let me rephrase i hope u didnt buy an ancient torque for me then 2m >.>; on my server people selling them for 9m or so and IS NOT worth it... u need dex get a love torque... if u need Acc get a Pcharm case close. ancient torque is a waste of gil. in terms of whats better ancient torque or spike neakless hmmm lets see... 9m for torque roughly 20k for spike neakless.... u be the judge, macros are your best friend, get a pcharm main it and then macro in spike for sa. i wouldnt use spikes anyway... i would use a pcharm main (if i didnt have a love torque)... but love torque trumps all case close.

first off Ta is agi based Sa is Dex based. depending on your food. i wouldnt use ancient torque for anything thats me tho... if i needed more dex for a sa use love if u needed more agi for ta use something else. again i main love so i got the dex and dagger skill which converts to acc in the long run

Well I managed to get it for 6.5 which I thought was a good price. I currently don't do sea with a LS so I don't have "easy" access to a Love Torque. I bought the Ancient so it will make do until I got the Love.
For SA: 1 Dex > 3 STR
1 DEX < 3 STR
1 DEX = 3 STR ?

1DEX > 3STR. 1DEX would be = 4STR (and very slightly worse due to the atk from the STR).

While Raen is mostly right it also depends on what your current STR/DEX numbers are, there are some cases where the 3STR would even out or beat the DEX.

Do i know such a situation? not rly.

Interesting stuff. Now i have no worries about selling my soul for an Ancient torque.

- Bomb Core if using Bomblet/Core (worth keeping both on you)
- Pixie or Adroit Earring ideally over Triumph

Otherwise looks very sexy to me outside of obvious Heca/Salvage upgrades.

Obviously Love Torque is the ideal, but until then:

Kubira Bead Necklace > Ancient Torque > Spike Necklace

wsgorget -> Love torque -> ancient torque -> stop sucking.



wsgorget is the easiest to get outta the 3 imo, and still is the better choice.

For an SA'd multihit WS? Nah. Maybe MS though, you'd have to ask Raen or one of the other mathy THFs here.

Lol this very very very much. Well the solo ws math isn't too bad it's when you throw SA and/or TA in there. For everyone else the reason why it is so hard and kinda up for debate is well 1 the SA and TA bonus is first hit only and is factored after ftp. Then there is the fact that the first hit is a crit hit so even the normal stat mods and fstr and ftp will count a little more on that first hit etc. Very annoying.

But yeah for straight up SA 1 dex=1 base dmg. 1 str if uncapped fstr will always =.25 base dmg. The attack from love is a little harder to figure out but since the next closest as far as kubira beads which adds same amount to base dmg but less att

Was proven somewhere that the acc bonus on WS torque (10 I believe?) applied to all hits. Don't quote me on that.

I've experimented with both Breeze and Love Torque, and Love always came out on top.

I think the DMG multiplier of whatever from the gorget applies to the first hit, but the accuracy should apply to every hit.

Yeah ws gorgets not as good as far as dmg goes for multi hit ws. I mean adding .1 to a ws that has an effective ftp of 6.1875 is like a 1.6% dmg increase

Dagger Skills and DEX is better imo so love Torque would be my choice~

A lot of Lses on Asura sell Love Torque for about 1/2 of what you paid for Ancient Torque.. maybe sell the AT and look on here to see who's selling for less? saves you some gil.

Are THFs still WS'ing in the WS gorget? <_<

Perhaps those of you who are should take a look at how the damage forumla works.
