Amp/dac Vs Amp + Dac

I was either going to get the $100 uDac for my laptop and a $100ish amp to use with both my laptop and my Ipod or I was going to get a $170-200 Amp/dac in one.

I'm not too familiar with these things so I was wondering the advantages and disadvantages of getting them two in one and wanted to know if it'd be better to get a two in one or to go with them separately. Or would the two in one function just as well as each individual and I just save money by buying them together?

I has 30 year old Cambridge audio amp and Kef Calinda speakers still cant really beat it lol. Im not a fan of Idocs personally. Cant use Udac directly through mp3 player either need laptop to power it via USB.

Well yea, that's why I'd get a dac and an amp seperately. I know the udac would only be for my laptop.

Just wondering the benefits on an amp and udac separate vs the benefits on an amp/dac combo. But yea, def need a dac for my laptop, since it has shitty sound.
