So What do you think would be some new possible Job Abilities for us Paladins when the level cap is upped?
they need new abilities?
From what ive read, they intend to increase pld def to coincide with the increased difficulty of monsters and assitions to the cover effect... pos to multiple players or outside the party.
Shield Armageddon
Upgraded version of Shield Bash. First you smack the monster in the face as usual and then you throw it up into the sky. In typical overdramatic FF style (see: summons) this shield will then split into 100 other shields which will all come crashing back down and each will have the force of a large nuclear explosion. Sentinal II lvl 85
- same dmg mitation as Sentinal 1 except with the added effect of magicdmg. (sentinal 1 merits will stack) "newtypeofmerit" - Job Trait Perfect Will - Enhances Sentinal II JA by giving an added chance to reflect either phys or magic dmg; 1st "newtypeofmerit" is is 5% +3% for each upgrade after. (additional gear can enhance this trait) some shape form or fashion of Provoke.

More job ability hate tools! More I say!
Name: "Have At You" Description: a white gloved slap to the mob's face, followed by a mooning by yours truly's derriere. Name: "Codes of Conduct" Description: I break out my leather crop. *Slap!**Slap!* Name: "Strategic Retreat" Description: For 15 seconds, I'm allowed to curl up and hide behind my shield. No need to be able to perform actions while doing so -- just enough so I can... recompose myself. hmmm... but knowing SE. Some kind of cure, and some kind of magic defense bonus thingy. I'd like to see some sort of "oh ***" ability that gets hate back no matter what caused you to lose it.

You forget this is SE we're talking about. . . PLD will get cure V! -.-
I just want Shell IV... Please?
And Pld would still use Cure IV over Cure V Pally's will get Banish III.
The end. Level 99 could actually possibly hurt paladins. It might just break atonement, since 720 damage might not be as significant as it is now, and won't be as good of a hate tool, unless they decide to ramp up the damage.

Stance abilities for PLD?
Defence Stance: Hide behind Shield. 1/2 Damage from sword. Shield block 100%. Attack Stance: Shield becomes like a Dual Wield weapon, with Damage Comparable to it's defence (Def x2 = ATK maybe?) ~5% Shield Block Chance. Remora.Endrance

I would like a Job Trait similar to kick attack thing where you have a chance of attacking with your shield! That would be sweet.

Change Guardian to a job ability instead of a trait, and make it two minute duration/five minute cooldown or something. Charge: One minute duration, ten minute cooldown, draws the enemy's attention, making you the sole target. All party members accumulate 0 enmity while Charge is in effect. Unbreakable: Merit job trait (only accessible at level 99), activates below 30% HP. Reduces damage taken by 50% and increases enmity gain by 25%. Each merit increases enmity by 5%. akin to the DND ability 'diehard.' you stay alive at 0 hp for like 5 seconds or something. that would be pretty ba.
Maybe have a Job trait that allows Sentinel's duration to be 1 min instead of 30seconds. Or be able to merit it so that it goes up to 1min, in increments of 5 or 10seconds? They could do it with a new merit system once players reach 99.
I like that suggestion of being able to attack with the shield
Perhaps just let us have a chance of attacking with the shield, sort of like Monk's getting a chance to do a kick attack, it won't stun an enemy like shield bash does though. Also Dizz, voke for PLD would be win, bye bye /war. What about an ability to steal hate from another pt member like thf can? We need it more right? WHM over cures and takes hate? STEAL ENMITY ROAR! DUAL WIELD SHIELDS MOTHER ***!

Banish III Reprisal II Invincible II ... oh wait .... Hmmm. I think paladins will get some form of hate tool. You have to consider the fact that all the DDs will be getting new weapons/ws/abilities to deal more damage. With this in mind, keeping hate will become more of an issue. It just seems to make sense to give paladin some form of provoke, even if it's weaker. I guess we will just have to wait and see.

Yeah, Dual Wielding Sheilds would be sweet but that what they invented the Nuevo Coselete for lol. And Dirzaefein your probably right we will get some new hate ability.

Paladin has received a number of upgrades to enhance its role as a tank, and the developers are looking to secure that position as Paladin makes the climb to level 99. As enemies get stronger and stronger, they need to be careful about balancing the defensive power of the Paladin as well. This Job is meant to lead the party, and so will receive other Abilities to protect its members, including ways to give the Cover Ability more usage (a Paladin trademark they feel doesn't see enough action). So, uh.... Coverga? And maybe another Rampart-like tool *More Defense (A job ability set sort of like Seigan/Hasso)
*More Divine Magic *Shell4 (lol) *Possibly even Shell5/Protect5 *A job ability similar to chivalry but opposite. (Takes TP -> HP) *Flash II |
