Relic+3 feet useful or no? Turms too good?

Tactical parry +40 would give us 80tp per parry. Seems pretty useful for a Battula build. Anyone use them yet?

Only reason I could see for them is a sweet upheaval build

When tanking do you do full swaps to include weapons/grips? That was one of my things i was debating on when fixing up my xml once i get Epeo in the next few days. Even considered reaugmenting my zulfiquar with fc since i no longer use it for anything else, and throwing that and a vivid strap into precast set

Just a note if You do this you can also add the deacon sword for phalanx
http://www.ffxiah.com/item/20704/deacon-sword
Phal +4

I guess best offhand would be chanter shield
http://www.ffxiah.com/item/27635/
ilvl, hp+22, FC+3

Oh damn, i had completely forgot that rune was on that sword/shield. Something I will to farm now. Thanks for the tip!

With Relic Feet for DD purposes/Battuta up you will gain 80 TP/Parry in a 71% parry rate with Empy Legs and Ambuscade Cape, in theory it should be good especially on mobs that multi-hit or HF.

Maybe someone else can provide a better insight at this but:

Assuming Battuta up with Empy legs + Turmus Feet fighting V1 this month under HF/SE for 30s.
If you got hit twice per second thats 60 hits x 81%=48.6 parries x40=1944 TP extra to your reserve, which is almost 2 free ws's .
Now with Relic feet 60 hits x71%=42.6 parries x80=3408 TP extra to your reserve thats 3 more free ws's.[57% increase]

Personally I prefer Inquartata rate for tanking purposes and usually during DD most often than not Im using Herc Feet...

The TP gain might be nice, however it would still require that you have hate and the mob is targeting you to parry an attack and using empy legs also means losing STP +7, DA/TA +3 from samnhua tights. So overall would lose 9 TA, 3 DA, and STP 7.

Lol?
You do realize it’s about Parry/Battuta while “Tanking” during extreme cases of multi hits or hundred Fists ...

But I guess it’s almost inevitable to have a straw-man on every single thread here :)

Anyway in case it wasn’t clear:

You said for DD purposes, which is what i was specifically referencing. Turms are a no brainer for tanking. feet/empy legs/ambu cape is 20%, 21% from JP if master, and 56% from Battuta if merited fully. then toss turms hands in for HP +100 and afk.

Could probably be argued either way. I know my ls still bursts a handful of mobs so I have Battuta/Rayke

This got me thinking if we replace Herc Feet with Relic +3 on DD mode RUN how much value can we gain from this without Battuta!
Parry Rate 21 + 6 from cape = 27%
There are two possible outcomes from this:
A.Free ws’s According to [27%x(total mele hits by NM)x80TP]
B.Higher probability of larger ws’s due to these procs (meaning you will find more 2k-3k ws’s) resulting in higher DPS.

100 Hits from a 5Hit TP set..
What needs to be factored now the loss of 6% TA from Herc Feet when swapping for Relic +3
6%x100= (18-6) hits x 200 TP/hit=1200TP 2400
6%x100= (18-6) hits x 270 TP/hit=1620TP 3240 with SAM Roll
27%x100(from NM)= 27 parries x80=2160TP with Relic Feet +3
27%x100(from NM)= 27 parries x40=1080TP without Relic Feet +3

With Herc No SAM roll=1200+1080 from Parry= 2280. 3480
With Herc SAM roll=1620+1080 from Parry= 2700. 4320
With Relic Feet +3= 2160

That’s only if we assume that you and the NM delivered the same number of hits.. any increase of hits from NM/Acc issues at your end might tip the scale towards Relic Feet +3

Surly others might be able to break it way better than this and/or have more insight, I just thought of this really quickly after that question about relic Feet +3

6% TA is going to be a 12 hit loss over 100 swings. 6% TA would mean 6 hits will triple attack which would result in 18 attacks over 100 swings. Also in DD situations +3 feet would still require for the mob to be targeting you in order to parry an attack. So unless you're the top DD and are holding it, the TP bonus from parry won't be doing much.

Here's what i'm currently working with as far as my main sets go. Also note that when tanking i typically prefer to swap weapons/grips.

TP: Adhemar Path B
ItemSet 355627

Resolution: Adhemar Path B
*Regal can be swapped for Epona's in full buff situations.
ItemSet 355628

PDT: My "standard" idle tank set, which from person to person will vary, and can swap around pieces to meet your individual needs. However this set has 42% PDT (67 with Epeo, 47 with Aettir), while still keeping 24% MDT in gear and maintains 2822 HP with more than enough parry. Cape is augmented with HP +60, Evasion +20/Mag Eva +30, Enmity +10. I also swap to Moonlight Cape for Situations where HP is needed such as fighting Kei where fullers hits for 2500HP.
ItemSet 355625

Magic Evasion/Absorb: Same Cape as PDT set with HP +60, Evasion +20/Magic Evasion +30, Enmity +10
ItemSet 355626

Precast: Zulfiqar has FC +7 which gives me 67% FC (will be @ 59% if you prefer not to swap weapons/grip), and if using Relic +1 legs for enhancing you will cap FC. Head Path D, Body Path D, Legs Path A, Feet Path D. Also with this set I maintain 2869 HP, so provides a variety of other options if you don't like swapping weapons/grips. Can just as easily drop Moonbeam Ring for Weatherspoon and maintain similar FC/HP.
ItemSet 355623

Enmity: Again, swapping weapons/grips, and using a Moonlight Ring over other enmity options for the sake of not losing too much HP. This set is @ 2639 HP
ItemSet 355629

Phalanx: All Taeon pieces augmented with Phalanx +3. Edit: added skill enhancing skill+ gear
ItemSet 355630

for precast you can get a pair of rawhide or ayanmo, unless you have to have the hp from other slots.

sea cape and the enhancing belt, forget the name, for a small boost to phalanx. stikni rings too, also best for pulse

get moonshade for resolution over brutal when tp is lower too.

You know, i actually forgot Stikini Rings were for all jobs, so thanks for pointing that out. Will have to make a couple minor changes to the phalanx set. Thanks for the input, always trying to make things better! Also, made the edit to the above gearsets.

In your PDT set why not use Heculean head? PDT or DT augment?

What’s the thought around emp?

Also Turms mitts full time? I just swap them in during battula. Gear swaps alone will negate a lot of the 100hp gains.

I could use a PDT/DT herc head, really not a bad option. I just haven't got around to getting respectable augments on a herculean head really. And I prefer to full time turms because even without Battuta up this gearset still has @ 41% parry rate and for those rare situations where you get gear locked into a pdt set you still have a respectable amount of magic evasion. But even swapping to a head with ~5PDT would put me @ 47PDT in which case I would think might be more reason to keep the hands on. But I also base the PDT set around the fact that i'll be using Epeo in that set and will exceed PDT cap, so for non Epeo users it probably makes a lot more sense to cap PDT in gear slots. Hopefully this makes sense or provides some insight, or I might be completely in left field with my head in the sky.

parry rate caps so pending what the cap is, turms feet would lose value with battuta up.

Isn't the only parry cap the 20% max before gear, traits, and JAs?

no. official forum states there is a cap they just didn’t say what. you can reach 97% with just battuta and gear so can easily find the cap

I don't suppose that is something you'd be willing to look into when you have the time is it? Would save me some time, and might make relic +3 feet worth using with battuta up assuming you don't swap weapons/grips.

I had thought that inquartata surpassed caps by adding directly to your base rate but maybe I'm totally wrong, lord knows I'm no pro on this subject, when it cones to tanking I usually read martels stuff since he devotes a lot of time to those mechanics
