I'm logging on POL just fine, then when i try to do update it POL-1160's me /sigh
spoke to soon - another account did not work....

Seems like they didnt fix it afterall, i was indeed able to do update, but as soon as it ended it POL-1160'ed me again. Back to square one.

In their defense, FFXI's code was archaic for it's own time never mind now in 2015 with new staff who didn't develop it.

Taken me near 3 hours to get one account in. Still can't get in with main for yesterdays login points. 2 hours to go and getting desperate now lol.
Was at a funeral yesterday so I didn't get on. Rolled home completely drunk so never bothered. I regret it now :/

It honestly seems to have downgraded, was logging in to POL with no problem, now i can't even do that.
I just tried that /flushdns suggested above. Got other account in. Hopefully they both stay in lol

To be fair this is not just typical of Square but a lot of IT. I like to think back to this old diddy

Managed to get both my characters on the game, but we'll see how long this lasts heh.
SE are claiming on the OF that the problem should be resolved.
I logged main out to play Euro Truck Simulator 2 for a couple of hours. (mega good DLC released recently)
Now I'm getting 0019 trying to login instead lol. Alt account is still logged in fine sitting in Korroloka waiting to level-sync me again.
Must have just been a dodgy login. Gone in fine now. Here we go!!

Watch after updates the servers are still down and SE announces something like, we had a catastrophic server error and the costs to repair were found to be to much of a deficit. We will be discontinuing service for ffxi. It's to bad because we had all this great grey scale rehash content for you guys but there was no choice. Sorries
Cool. It's doing the 1160 error with a new one: 0011.
If it took over 4 hours to get fixed on a weekday there's no chance it's getting fixed on a Saturday!

Yup, just came up for me as well. I'll give the flushdns strategy a shot and see if it helps.

Happened to me today, got disconnected from the game with the FFXI-3001 error, knocked me back to POL and hit a FFXI-3100 error, so I closed the game, reloaded POL, got the POL-1160 error. What I did was load up WTFast and it worked just fine. Had to use this on FF14 when the servers were being crappy and it would better my connection so I'm happy I still had it and it worked for me. Hope this helps others!
