That's way too much to digest.
But the whole domino effect isn't very true.
I have taken part in a few stages to see "okay, lets rate up this stupid comment and see if people follow."
Surprisingly people have their own train of thought and dont lemming everything they see.

We're are supposed to be a informative AH ffxi website not a facebook contest of who is the most popular/hated.
Then if it is supposed to be informative and such then why are you defending people that are posting personal pictures and getting rated down? There's no reason to post those types of pictures on this site using your logic and therefore should be rated down! ^^
