Sentinel's Scherzo

Can anyone explain how exactly this song works? We had scherzo on yesterday while fighting Carabosse that we werent prepared yet for (single WHM wiped >.>) and it landed a 3k Tornado II with that up, and still instant killed one of our members.

Does it work with Magical (as the wiki says) or only physical? Or did the spell just do 4k and shaved off 25% to say 3k? >.>

If its like Migawari it should hit you for 0 dmg when it kicks in, unless it wore off or got overwritten.

Well according to wiki its a 23 ~ 34% damage reduction (depending on skills/AF3+2). Which our BRD was newly dinged 90 with only... lvl 40ish skills at the time x:

I was asked to use this while Bard'n for Indrik and that move he spams (phys dmg I think). It def lowered the damage significantly and made a difference. No clue whether this applies to spells

It applies to all damage.

When you'd get hit for more than 75% of your maximum HP it'll kick in and block up to 34% of it depending on skill and gear.

So if you were being hit with 10,000 needles instead of taking 10,000 you'd take 6600 damage.

She does Dispel quite a bit, and if the person that got hit was missing Shell5, or the Scherzo got removed, that would easily explain how she one shotted your party member. And to be honest, those spells do hit pretty hard if you're unprepared.

They said their bard has the skill of a lvl. 40, it was probably amount blocked anyway.

This is true, except for the fact that Scherzo does NOT cap at 34%.

With 761 combined skill and +1 Scherzo from AF3 Feet, Scherzo took off 42% of 1000 Needles.

So as I've said before, Scherzo does NOT cap at 34% >.< Probably won't know the true cap until future lvl increases for more base skill.
