Just spent all my $ on Tier 5 spells for BLM.
Anyone else gonna be super pissed if these drop from mobs in Abyssea/WoE and sell for 20k a pop in the AH?

they do drop from abyssea.
However, many people will probably try jacking up the prices until word gets out about where to find them. Siren.Screamingbabies said: they do drop from abyssea. However, many people will probably try jacking up the prices until word gets out about where to find them. They're also not that incredibly useful at the moment. Stone V is a 51MP increase over Thunder IV and does a very minimal damage increment. Better off just stick with Tier-IV spells for now.

Meh i'd rather pay out then deal with crapy drop rates in an area with a limited time to stay in.

I guess I should also mention, for ppl that may not know, these can be bought from an NPC in Windy S for about 120k each.
Has anyone cast these spells yet, or has everyone gotten tired of having to come BLM to events and decided to level other jobs instead? If you have actually leveled BLM to 80, how's the Damage/MP efficiency look with a hefty MAB set?
Stone IV 138 MP vs. Stone V 222 MP - That's a pretty big jump in MP, and Stone V has the same casting time as Ancient Magic II but a significantly lower recast time. By Wikipedia alone, it's something like: Stone IV 138 MP for 381 base value with a 2.0 multiplier for 762. 5.5 damage per MP. Stone V 222 MP for 625 base value with a 2.31 multiplier for 1443.75. 6.5 damage per MP. Freeze II 287 MP for 710 base value with a 2.0 multiplier for 1420. 4.9 damager per MP. Unless you've Manafonted and ran out of spells to cast, looks like AM II is pretty much obsolete(unless you actually use it for lowering resists or for the macc bonus if you fully merited your AM II). Anyone do any testing with some significant MAB? Well Thunder/blizz IV will still be even more efficient and AM2 will still do more dmg. And MB for even more if you put a few merits in. And lower resistances
In fact my stone V is only a little higher than my thunder IV. Granted part of that is not only them being close in base dmg but also I'm using a better (trial) staff for thunder spells and that I like most blms merited thunder potency but still. Dont think we can really compare Blizz4/thun4 till we get tier 5 of thunder/blizzard.
Its what we expected really stone/water 5 slightly better than tier 4. we never really seen jump before when we got tier4 stone before until we got blizz/thunder 4. I'm just looking at the jump between Stone IV and Stone V because we can expect that same performance boost when we get Blizzard/Thunder V as compared with the Tier IV versions. Since we don't have those yet, how much more/less efficient is this Stone V to Stone IV. Also, it seems like a pretty large jump in MP cost: Stone: 9 > Stone II: 43(+34) > Stone III: 92(+49) > Stone IV: 138(+46) > Stone V: 222(+84) |
